Great Product & Great Back-Up Support from BDS

My Silvelox garage door was installed in 2008 and has provided excellent service. Unfortunately a mice/rat(s) found the lower rubber door seal tasty and did considerable damage that warranted replacement. As the door was manufactured in 2008, I was not confident that I would find replacement parts. I found Blacklock Doors on the internet and with very pro-active help from Amanda, the replacement seal was quickly identified and dispatched. My garage door is now back as it was and should see out many more years’ service. As an ex-engineer, it is clear that Silvelox make quality products that last and that Blacklock Doors are only willing to assist. Highly Recommended

We have 2 smaller and 1 large Silvelox garage doors and had major problems over the years with doors not working properly e.g. not closing, bouncing back, not opening and the latest was that the pull mechanism failed. We had another company dealing with it in the past and although the doors were open and closing afterwards, dangerous shortcuts were made. The opening mechanism of the passenger door incorporated in one of the doors was made inactive and therefore we were unable to open this door from the outside. The safety features were disabled so that the garage doors still would close or open even if car or (worse) a person was standing in it's way. Highly dangerous. It was extremely difficult to get an engineer out despite multiple phone calls. Fortunately we found BDS - Blacklock Doors. They were a pleasure to work with, very reliable (arrival exactly on time on agreed appointment and very very skilled). The company was located quite a distance away, but this was no problem. We are very happy with the work of David and Amanda and very pleased that our doors are functioning again, as they should do. Highly recommended. Many thanks for you professional help.

We had a beautiful Silvelox garage door fitted 3 years ago by a local firm. It never functioned properly, either it didn’t completely close or it refused to open or stopped halfway. Finally – a fully functioning garage door !

Our garage door has been malfunctioning for four years and we were considering having to purchase a new one as we could not find an enterprise willing to take on the repair. Fantastic Service

The Silvelox Fox

We had our Silvelox front door installed in 2012, the company we used is no longer around and over the last few years the lock mechanism had got stiffer and stiffer to the point we were worried that we might snap the key in the lock. I tried contacting some local companies but no one had the knowledge or expertise in Silvelox front doors. Luckily one of them mentioned David and BDS as the go to person for Silvelox in the UK. Thank goodness. David came out to service the door and he was able to ease the lock mechanism and it's as good as new, if not better! On top of that he's a thoroughly nice guy. A Super-Reliable Team Providing Great Service

We contacted BDS to diagnose and repair a Silvelox garage door we had installed 20 years ago. The product is unrivalled in quality and design and only now have we experienced a failure with the automatic opening mechanism. Our local service provider closed 7 years ago, and we were dreading the prospect of trying to find someone knowledgeable that we could trust. Amanda and David have been extremely helpful from the start, and over several pre-visit telephone calls they guided me through some remote diagnostics to narrow the fault to either the remote transmitter or receiver. During our service visit, David identified the door sensors controlling the signal to close on command also needed some adjustment and this was promptly repaired. We are genuinely relieved to have found an owner-led Company who cares about their service level and our customer experience. Silvelox Problem Solver !

We ordered a Silvelox Securlap garage door for our new build home - we needed a space saving door that had a very high level of thermal insulation. The door was initially installed incorrectly and Silvelox recommended that we approach their ‘go-to’ person in the UK, David Blacklock. David attended site, analysed the issues and determined what had been done incorrectly and rectified the installation in a pleasant, timely and polite manner. He did not do the original installation. If we do another installation, we will insist that David does it! Always good in these times to get polite, efficient service and the problem solved, not fudged.

THE Silvelox Experts

From the very first contact Amanda and David did everything they could to assist us. As we are 250 miles from BDS, David first called and spent considerable time talking me through how to check for various common issues and to try to identify a cause for the door failure. The sensors, at least, were a likely issue and so a service call was needed. The charges and likely spares costs were laid out clearly beforehand, and BDS didn't deviate from the estimates. Also given the distance, I was concerned if a second visit would be needed, but David carries spares for just about any issue. On inspection, David quickly identified multiple issues, all of which he was able to put right. Throughout the visit, David was explaining what he was doing and giving me tips and showing me how to carry out on-going care maintenance. After years of searching on google and lots of calls to companies, I struck gold!! My first call with Blacklock Doors and security was not what I expected, I was greeted by a very lovely friendly knowledgeable lady (Amanda) who could not of helped and advised any more. We then went into a call with David. Parts needed to be ordered in to complete a repair & the communication was excellent whilst waiting for parts and to confirm a date for the repair. Excellent Service from Blacklock Doors and Security

In 2009 I replaced my old double width garage door with a Silvelox door and at the time I chose a manual door over a powered automatic door as I live in an area which suffered from a high level of power outages. I chose Silvelox as I was impressed with the build quality and finish and in particular, the ease with which the counter balanced manual door opened and closed. The door has served me well for 13 years but recently the key operated lock did not have the same smooth feel to it and I feared the lock might be broken internally and would soon leave me locked out with no other access to the garage. I tried to contact the supplying business to no avail, and eventually found a company professing to be able to repair any garage door but they baulked at the name Silvelox, but in fairness they pointed me towards David Blacklock at Blacklock Doors and Security. The Company said they could carry out any necessary work to the door and were not phased by me being located some 120 miles North of their base. A date and time was agreed and David Blacklock arrived promptly. His initial reaction was that there was nothing wrong with the door and it just needed some adjustment and following adjustment and some lubrication to the inner workings the door and locking mechanism was restored to as new. The experience from initial contact through to completion of the work was carried out very professionally and the customer service was exemplary.

High Quality Doors and Repairs

After 20 years my garage door simply stopped working. A call to BDS, in which I was able to supply them with photographs of the door plates, soon put my mind at rest, especially when they said that they would look into any parts that may be needed and call me back to arrange a visit. True to their word, and on the appointed date, David and Amanda arrived complete with a new motor and various spares, but within a short time David had located the fault, cleaned up and serviced the door mechanism and the door was working, without the need for a new motor. The fix was much easier and cheaper than expected and I would have no hesitation in recommending them for anyone with problems to their Silvelox garage doors.

Efficiency at it’s best!

Our Silvelox double garage door was bought and fitted in 2003. It has been in regular use since then, with very little maintenance care, apart from perhaps a wash down of the paintwork every five years or so, which has been sufficient to ensure its smart appearance. Approximately six years ago it became a little temperamental in its performance and I started the search for a company qualified to make the necessary adjustments. This was not easy as I constantly heard, 'Yes, we used to service Silvelox doors, but I'm afraid that we no longer do.' Eventually I did find a company who were able to improve the doors performance and the door continued to operate satisfactorily. About four years ago one of the remote controls failed to work, despite changing the battery. Sorting this problem out was not high on my priority list, but at the end of October last year, I started the search for a Silvelox engineer once again, thinking that it would be quite a quest. But on this occasion Fate smiled on me and after a few unsuccessful telephone calls, I was given David Blacklock's telephone number. When he answered my call, I felt that I had struck gold! David knew exactly what the problem was and answered my questions fully and simply. He was able to bring a new signal receiver and a pair of remote controls back from one of his trips to Silvelox in Italy a couple of weeks after my initial request and not only fit them shortly after his return, but also carry out a service to the door and replace the courtesy light bulbs. I would add that the work described was carried out whilst a bitter east wind was blowing on what must have been the coldest day in East Anglia of 2021. Whilst I do not envisage further problems with the door, I feel assured that in the case of an emergency, I would receive reliable and speedy help from Blacklock Doors.

Super Reliable Silvelox Service

We have had Silvelox doors for over 18 years and whilst the product is fantastic, there have been challenges in finding someone reliable to service / maintain the doors. When we previously had an issue we found a company, but they were based in the north and we’re in Essex. We had to wait for them to fit us in and when they came to repair the door they found that some of the parts needed weren’t available. The door was fixed but it was a compromise ! We recently had another problem and after much searching found BDS. David spoke with us at length to understand the problem - the door needed new photocells and we wanted to get the door handle light working again. On the day of his visit he replaced the photocells and for the light, gave us the option of replacing the circuit board with a new one, or said if he had a soldering iron he could fix the problem there and then. He disappeared for half an hour and returned with a newly purchased soldering iron and completed the repair…….The alternative would have been to wait weeks for a new board at 4 to 5 times the cost, so a big saving and more important our door fixed! We recommend the team at BDS to any Silvelox door owner.

Garage Door Is Working Better Than Ever

David arrived at our Residence and identified the fault with our garage door immediately. Our door sensors had been drilled last time they were looked at instead of being replaced. He also said that the door could never have been serviced properly, as part of the panel had been covered by the ceiling. Once he’d been back and fitted the replacement parts the garage door has never worked as well since being installed. Great service.

Silvelox Problem Solver

Twenty years ago we bought an Italian made Silvelox Double Garage door and for twenty years it opened and closed perfectly but inevitably there came a day when the electric up and over mechanism failed with two cars locked in the garage ! What followed was a frustrating search to locate an engineer with a specialist knowledge of the Silvelox Brand of door. Following many phone calls I learned there seem to be only two companies to contact - One in the North of England and One in the South. Fortunate for us BDS was the company in the South, located in Kings Langley, Herts conveniently close to us In Hertford. An appointment was made & David came and made an initial diagnosis of the problem - the requirement for replacement sensors. At the same time he enabled the door to open and close. The sensor units were ordered from Italy and fitted on a second visit, during which time he fastidiously checked and re-checked the open-close function until he achieved a smooth-as-new operation. I now look forward to a stress free function for another twenty years. If you have a Silvelox problem he is certainly the person to contact.

Excellent Customer Service

My security gate key fob had been faulty for quite a time and then it stopped working so I ordered a new one from BDS. It came very quickly and securely through the post. On speaking to a team member I asked if the broken gate fob could also be looked at to see if it could be repaired, as it would be very useful to have a spare. The challenge was accepted and I have now received the repaired and fully functioning 2nd gate fob. I am thrilled and have only praiseworthy comments to make on the technical and practical abilities of David and his team. Their service is excellent.

Thankful for the BDS Recommendation

I had my Silvelox Garage Door fitted in 2014 and it had been pretty much problem free until May 2021, when it started making a horrible “crunching” noise when opening and closing, and then it stopped working altogether – stuck open. We had to force it to shut. We had access to the garage through the pedestrian door, but had a beautiful car trapped inside and no means of getting it out. The company that installed the door were no longer offering a repair service, so I rang a leading Garage Door Company who feature Silvelox Garage Doors on their website and asked if they would be able to help me. They said they couldn’t help me but they recommended I contact David at BDS, as he was a “Silvelox Specialist”. David was great – very professional, courteous and methodical. We had an initial “consultation” over the phone and it became clear that an on-site visit was needed. On his 1st visit David identified a number of issues and parts that needed replacing, and he left that day having got the door working in manual mode, so I could get the car in and out of the garage again. He ordered the parts from Silvelox in Italy, and once they had arrived, David returned to complete the repair, restoring the door to full glory and now working better than ever. I am grateful for the recommendation to BDS and have no hesitation in recommending them myself.

BDS – A Silvelox Specialist

We are so grateful to the team at BDS who helped us when our Silvelox front door stopped shutting tightly or locking. We have two small children, and the house is close to the road, so were very concerned for both our security and safety. We called out a local emergency locksmith, who looked at the lock and the door. He said he’d never seen a front door like this before. He checked the lock and said it was fine, but he thought the door had dropped and needed to be adjusted – and that we should try and find a Silvelox Specialist to do this.
